HOW TO OPERATE
- Park in the shade. Perform the repair in a shaded area. While the resin needs UV light to cure, you need to avoid premature curing while you are working.
- Warm the glass. The ideal temperature for the repair is between 60°F and 90°F (15°C and 32°C). If the glass is cold, warm it with a hairdryer.
- Clean and prep the area. Use a microfiber towel and glass cleaner or rubbing alcohol to thoroughly clean the glass around the chip. Avoid spraying cleaner directly into the crack.
- Remove debris. Use a pushpin or razor blade to gently scrape away any loose shards of glass or debris from the impact point.
- Wear protective gear. Put on safety glasses and gloves to protect your eyes and skin from chemical contact.

BENEFITS OF USEING THE RESIN
- Restores structural integrity: The resin bonds with the surrounding glass to strengthen the compromised area and restore the windshield's original structural stability.
- Prevents further damage: Timely repair of a small chip with resin can prevent it from spreading into a larger, more costly crack due to road vibrations or temperature changes.
- Maintains safety standards: The repair helps ensure that the windshield remains a reliable part of the vehicle's safety system, including proper airbag deployment during an accident.
FUN APPLICATION JOURNEY
-
HOW IT WORKS
The repair resin contains a chemical component called a photoinitiator. When exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light—either from the sun or a specialized UV lamp—the photoinitiator triggers a chemical reaction.
-
FACTORS AFFECTING SUCCESS
Temperature: Temperature is crucial for the resin's viscosity and curing time.
Cold temperatures increase resin viscosity, making it harder to fill the crack completely. It also slows the UV curing process.
Hot temperatures decrease viscosity, which can cause the resin to flow away from the damage. It can also cause the resin to cure too quickly, trapping air bubbles.
-
CONTAMINATION
Any trapped dirt, moisture, or cleaning chemicals can interfere with the resin's ability to bond with the glass. Pre-cleaning is critical for a durable, invisible repair.
FAQ
Will the repaired area be invisible?
With proper application and a high-quality resin, the repaired area should be nearly invisible. The resin is formulated with a refractive index that closely matches that of glass, which minimizes visual distortion
How is the resin cured?
You typically expose the repaired area to direct sunlight for 5–20 minutes to activate the curing process.
What types of damage can glass repair resin fix?
- Chips: Circular or star-shaped damage, often caused by small rock strikes.
- Bull's-eyes and half-moons: Damage with a distinct, circular point of impact.
- Star breaks: Damage with small, radical cracks extending from the impact point.
- Small cracks: Typically, cracks that are no longer than a few inches
